I've used them in the past but I find them too cheesy. And there's more control on the looks when making real images.

you may be surprised to learn that there are a number of other platforms and browsers that don't support proprietary code and are still very popular. Wink things have changed quite a lot since 1997.

It is not really necessary to explain how to do that.

Simply, going to the "view source" will expose the html and css code.

The code is relatively simple, and any additional information about "style-filters" can be found at the Microsoft website (the inventors).

I first used this code in the fall of 1997 when Internet Explorer 4 came out.

The relatively few percentage of users who use Netscape, will just see font color instead of "Text-Images".

The techniques you are recommending are proprietary (they aren't part of the standard, though it may be being reconsidered), so they will not work in all browsers, as you've noted.

You haven't expounded on how to do these techniques. Perhaps you could explain them?
