onMouseOver image changing another image?

I have seen many sites use the little script thing as of where they use onMouseOver on an image, and use another "blank" image. When viewers move over the onmouseover image, the "blank" image changes to either text or another image. how do they do that???

Two images the same size exactly (pixel width and height). One is in the code, the other is called onMouseOver.

The one in the code is simply an image of the page at that spot (one colour or texture, or a stripe, or whatever). The one that gets loaded in when you mouse over the first one is an image with text on it, or a different colour strip or whatever.

If you are looking for the code, there are a number of free MouseOver Makers on the web. Maybe someone has some urls to share?

If you are wondering how to make the images, get a good graphics editor and be VERY careful. You need to make sure anything in the images is lined up the same in both images.

C|NET has the mouseover machine - just about idiot-proof for generating the code necessary, then it's just cut and paste from there
