Need Image Highlight JavaScript

I'm completely new to JavaScript and have been searching the various sites for a specific kind of image script.

I need to build a graphic which enables the user to click on various parts and an message will pop up. For example, a graphic of a car. If you click on the headlights, a description will pop up on the page. If you click on the tires, another description pops up.

I've seen scripts that come close to this;i.e., slide shows that have descriptions that pop up underneath, but I need to do this with a graphic.
