JPG or GIF images?

Hello,

I was just wondering what it was best to use...I've been using JPG, but it seems most people use GIFs. Is there a reason for this?

www.gettingstarted.net has some great explanations on images and when/where to use them.

Quick tips:

jpeg is for complex colours/textures like photographs

gif is for flat colours, text, line art

There are exceptions, however that is the most common way to determine what you should use for the best file size / quality ratio.
