IE and Save Target As

On our company intranet, I store .eps files for employees to download and send company logos to print shops for special printing requests. Because IE can't interpret eps files, I have users right click and select "save target as" and save to their hard drive for emailing. My problem is that when they do this, the "e" in .eps gets deleted, leaving a .ps extension.

Has anyone heard of this problem before? Any solutions? Changing to Firefox or Netscape isn't a solution as the company browser standard is IE.

Thanks.

I had problems with this myself, not sure what casues the problem, ended up just manually changing the thing after downloading the files.

Sorry I don't have a solution, but wanted to let you know you are not alone Smiling

PS. Ok I didn't feel good with leavign this without a "solution", so I did a search and found this:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB%3BEN-US%3BQ180030

Quote: To resolve this issue, follow these steps: 1. Double-click My Computer.
2. On the View menu, click Options or Folder Options.
3. Click the File Types tab, and then click New Type.
4. In the Description Of Type box, type Postscript.
5. In the Associated Extension box, type ps, .eps. NOTE: If you do not type a space between "ps," and ".eps," when you download files with the .eps extension or the .ps extension, the files are saved with a ".ps,.eps" extension.
6. In the Content Type (MIME) box, type application/postscript.
7. In the Default Extension For Content Type box, click ".ps, .eps," click OK, and then click OK again.
8. Empty your Temporary Internet Files folder. To do so, follow these steps:

Internet Explorer 4.0 and 4.01:

a. In Internet Explorer, click Internet Options on the View menu.
b. Under Temporary Internet Files, click Delete Files.
c. Click OK, and then click OK again.

Internet Explorer 3.02:

a. In Internet Explorer, click Options on the View menu.
b. Click the Advanced tab, click Settings, and then click Empty Folder.
c. Click Yes, click OK, and then click OK again.

Now if you have 100 computers there, it looks like you have to modify them all. Not sure if your admin can send out some type of script at login to change them for ya.

Greg, thank you for your response...I wish it was just 100 computers. More like 800. I'll have to see if the tech group can come up with some kind of script. Thanks!
