Hotmail
hey.. this is the first time I have ever run across this.. dont' know what to do... have email links on a clients site, if person has hotmail as default email program.. when the email pops up with the addy filled in... it adds to the end of the addy /start only happens when a person uses hotmail. My clients site is utilibizsolutions.com in outlook express and other programs the email links at bottom of pages all work right... only in hotmail.. anyone know a fix short of shooting hotmail?.. lol.. thanx in advance...

You may want to remove the non-valid coding.

The bold part is invalid. Have you met http://validator.w3.org/ ?
<a href="mailto:[email protected]">
[email protected]</a>
Also, you may want to encode that email address to prevent it being harvested by spam spiders.
http://www.hiveware.com has an online enkoder that you may find useful.

Maybe we need more clarification of the problem -- can you take a screenshot of what's happening? A standard hyperlink doesn't work when hotmail is the default email application, is that it?
Edited to add: While this is probably not causing the problems, you have some inconsistencies in your code that may cause other problems (notably the local stylesheet is not in the element where it belongs). If you're going to use stylesheets, you shouldn't use HTML 3.2 as the DOCTYPE, either.

hmmm. I don't know, either! so the actual address in the "to:" field has the /start in it. Wacky.
Searches for this error aren't turning up good results because the terms are so common, drat.
Have you tested this yourself?

Maybe you'd be better off having a contact form rather than a mailto so that it doesn't need to use the persons email client at all then.
