Hit reporting

Morning!

I'm trying to find out more about hit reporting. Currently for clients we can track hits to a page with a bit of ASP, and have a crude method of extracting keyword phrases from the logfiles but it's all a bit lame and time wasting.

What i want to know is how Bravenet do it? I think it's with JavaScript but i'm not sure. They show stuff like the most popular day, what screen resolution as well as hits (click here for an example).

Any tips or direction would be appreciated
