hey people
Hi guys after visiting secretsofwar.net (created by hotcut) i have decided to create a similar game. I however only have little i.e. no experience of web design.
Basically i'd like small details like
1) cheapest web hosting companies
2) how to create a similar site, i believe it is an asp. game (i dont know what this means though)
Or any other imformation sources would be appreciated

It seems to me that you will have to know a lot of information and experience to create a similar site - information and experience, which, no offence, it doesn't appear you have.
If you don't know what asp is then I'm sure people will tell you but ideally you need to learn it and become familiar with it - I would definitely suggest working on a smaller site before embarking on this project.
Don't just assume that this will be easy - of course we will tell you everything you need to know, but it wont come instantly and you will have to work for it.
That said, can anyone actually help this guy?

Well, I don't know how this game even works, but it seems you'd need a hosting company that supports ASP or PHP, and a database system like MySQL.
All games of this nature are based on math, and some randomness.
Games which I believe are similar in terms of construction are:
Pimp War
Earth 2025
Utopia
You'll need to know how you want players to sign up, and make accounts, what info you need from them.
You'll need to know how to manage cookies, so users can log in and out.
You'll need to know how users will interact with one another, how they will get better and how to make it fair for people who are new.
Thats a good start, if you can do all that, then you're wll on your way.

Where can i learn all this information, is there a website i can refer to, this website will not be a solo project but still by two unexperienced webmasters.

Here is an example of an open source, text based MMORPG
Legend of the Green Dragon
If you look at the source, that will give you some idea of what's involved, what you're talking about is NOT a beginner's project, not by a long shot.

lol it sure isn't, i am currently researching asp and database as much as i can as i think these are the required aspects of a site design such as this
I will also hang around on this site; chat, get questions answered and read around a bit trying to pick up on some of that experience i need.
Thanks Cpt.

No offense Steve, but this is a job that an experienced web master would struggle to get up and running. You need to know more than just web design, you need to know how to program. Have you ever built any kind of website before? If you haven't then you really aren't going to have a snowmans chance in hell of doing this on your own.
I'm sorry to rain on your parade, but I've been designing websites and working with databases for over five years and I wouldn't even think about starting a project like that.
