Float not exactly floating

If you look at that page in FireFox (I have no idea what it looks like in any other browser) you'll notice that all the info on the right is down by where the content is. Why is this happening! And how can I make it go away! I want it up just under the header. I tried floating the page header (blue space with nothing for the front page) and breadcrumb trail, but that didn't help at all!

Its the nature of float. I can't explain it (wish I could!) but here is another example of the same thing happening:

...I don't see anything wrong with either of those sites... I'm using Firefox...

The basic idea is that when you float a layer (layer 1) to the right of another layer (layer 2) then the vertical alignment of layer 1's text must be the same distance from the top of the page as layer 2's text. Even if layer 2 is being pushed down by layers further above.
Tough for me to explain.

I tried negative margins, negative borders etc and nothing worked for me.

Good to know! Too bad relative doesn't work in IE5 or I'd totally use that method in my design! Thanks for the tip!
