Flash 5 HTML Question

What is this code that appears when Flash publishes an HTML file?

Aol users were getting popups to ask if they wanted to install Flash 5 so I deleted reference to this plus the following download page:

codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=5,0,0,0"

Deleting these lines shouldn't cause any problems, right?

The object insertion does a couple of things, there is a check to see whether or not the plug in is installed, then remits a link to the plugin download area back on the macromedia website. Deleting those lines means that anyone incapable of viewing the files or anyone with an earlier version wont get the option to upgrade.
