I think what he's trying to say is how to make a file downloadable from his site, not how to download off another person's site .

I've searched high and low and it seems as though no one has a definitive answer regarding scripts for allowing users to download a file from a site. One suggestion was to zip the file.
I think there is a java applet or script floating around somewhere. sites like CGI-Resource Index and Download.com have these features so I know it's possible. I just haven't been able to figure it out yet. Perhaps one of you can help.

Hi Chris!
It's my understanding that it all depends on the user's browser preferences... most users will download a zip or exe file by default, so you will want to make your files in that format.

i'm probably missing the boat here, but a right mouse click on a hyerlink always works for me.

I know I am bringing up this old forum - but I still need help. I am creating a website where they have a program that they want the visitors to be able to download. How do I set up the website so the visitor can do this?

TIA

Brooke
