Favorites icon - Adding an icon to a bookmarked site
Wow! That is all? Could you recommend an image program for making icons. I don't think I can make them in Photoshop.
Thanks again.

You can get a trial version of an icon program called Microangelo 98 from ZDNet at:
http://www.hotfiles.com
Remember, the icon needs to be 16x16 pixels and use a 16 color palette. You can configure these settings with the program.

Hello. Can anyone tell me how do I add an icon to my page for bookmarking. Example: The Web Designer Resource site http://www.pageresource.com/
If you bookmark this site in IE. an icon/gif is stored in your favorites menu. How can I do this too?
Thank you
Lisa.

its actually so easy you already know the answer!
All you do is create an icon for yourself and name it "favicon.ico". Put it in the same directory as all your html files and away you go!
Good Luck!

Thanks,
I tried it out and got the Favourite thing to work, but it still didn't show beside the URL, until I had reloaded a few times.

Only IE5 uses this icon. This was undocumented by Microsoft and became known when the error messages started to appear on server logs.
Microangelo did a great job for me. Think out what you want as a 16x16 pixel image cannot convey much information.

To lloydhass-
As mentioned in an earlier post on this thread, Microsoft hadn't even documented it as part of IE5 so I imagine the future of these "favicons" is up in the air as far as the browser "wars" are concerned... it's a nice feature.
