Drupal - Continued...
OK, now dont get me as a freak or anything, but I am really freaked out!
Last thread, I was ranting on about how drupal's role assign was messed up, well now, i have just put up a disposable installation, and it works fine. I did everything same, if not quicker and worse than last time, i really dont understand. anyways, I shall keep this thread alive, and keep you updated on how it goes, I will start again, with drupal (With e107 Backups) and see how it goes.
Sorry for wasting your time, but I really dont understand this myself.

Ya, I looked at the bug report you filed, and nobody could reproduce it. It was probably something wrong with your installation or something. Sometimes the best solution is to start with a fresh installation.

Very true, but I reinstalled it 3 times, and on the forth it decides to work :S
Anyway, I was hoping someone could help me with something. I assume TWF it on V6.x of Drupal. Can you please tell me how in the world you managed to control your banners. I desperatlet need a module that allows banner ads at the top of my pages.
If you guys have created a .info with it's mod files, could you tell me how to please?
Thanks in advance...
PS: Maybe Drupal can redeem itself ...

I think we are running 5.something. Version 6 hasn't been released yet.

I am running Drupal V6.
Is there any difference between Drupal 5 and 6?

I am dumping Drupal 6, and downloading V5.
Is this a good idea? I noticed 5.7 is more stable, and has a lot more resources.
Let me know please...

Yeah, get on to 5. The differences between Drupal versions are HUGE. They have a policy of breaking backwards compatibility, which tends to break all the modules from the previous version. That might sound like a bad idea, but it means you're pretty unlikely to find a module that isn't being maintained (as the old ones fall by the wayside when a new Drupal comes out). It also means the devs can concentrate on sweet new features, without worrying about breaking things.
Anyway, I've tested out the ads module, and it's good. It's pretty well supported too, by the guy who runs the kerneltrap web site. We use OpenAds on the site at the moment, that was in place before Drupal though, we're looking to move to the ads module as part of our plan for world domination.

Cool, I have already installed v5.7, and so far, cannot find any difference apart from module compatability.
BTW, very nice new theme, very simple, easy to use.
I am also on that Advertisement module Trouble is, I cannot seem to create any banner campaigns. It says there are not input types.
I have fully configured them in the module settings, but it still has a couple of errors. I am thinking of installing OpenAd, it seems simpler.
Thanks for your Info. Keep up the good work.

It is a bit of a confusing module to use. Once you get the hang of it it's ok, we were looking at it soley because of the integration possibilities (giving members free advertising for posting basically). If you don't need to do anything like that, then OpenAds may be easier.
Glad you like the new theme!

You can say that again. I have drop-kicked it out of my server. I raise my glass for OpenAd. It is soo simple, and very powerful.
I notice this theme loads quicker, and seems much more professional. No fancy buttons or anything, it is straight to the point.
So far, Drupal is behaving, and e107 is looking slightly abandoned and now very worried.
I like drupal purely for its themes, ans maybe the database layout. It is so simple to configure, and is not a one-hit-wonder.
ahh, I love to rant. Cheers for reading, Adios!
