Doctype
Hello all,
I run a wedding guide website http://www.bayareaweddingguide.com
I received an email from a potential advertiser indicating that I do not have a DOCTYPE designation in my html. Can anyone tell me what this is-- and how and where I would put it in the html of my page? I apologize if this is a dumb question, but the research I have done leaves a lot unclear. I'd like to hear what the experts have to say.
Thanks!
Gina

Okay,
I just added something (that I think is the correct DOCTYPE html) into the html on my homepage at http://www.bayareaweddingguide.com
I still don't understand what the actual html does, though I understand it has something to do with the type of browser your site is opened in? At any rate, do I have it right?
Thanks,
Gina

The DOCTYPE that you should use is HTML 4.01 Transitional.
Also, the DOCTYPE goes at the very top of the page before anything else like so:
Bay Area Wedding Guide
In addition to the link that Renegade gave you HERE is another that may be of some help.
