DHTML Drop-down menu
My site was recently reviewed (http://www.webmaster-forums.net/showthread.php?p=162662#post162662), alot alot of people say my site needs a new header.
I have been wanting one for a LONG time, but couldn't figure out what kind of a cool one I wanted to do.
.....
Being an ammature at webdesign (at the age of 13), I am pretty much clueless about DHTML, but still trying to expand my knowledge.
Anyways, does anyone have ANY IDEA how to do a DHTML drop-down menu? I want mine to be somewhat simular to the header on Airliners.net. If anyone knows how to do this- help would be GREATLY appritiated.
Thanks,
*Joe*

Did you lok at the source on that site?
The best way to learn is to find out how it was done, looking at source code is an easy way to find out how.

I actually did try to take a look at their source coding, which is easy to do through the browser I am currently using.
When I pulled up the code is was pages after pages of coding- EXTREMELY long. I finally found it and it made absolutely no sence to me. But I'll go back when I get a chance and try to make some sence out of it now that I ahve a little more knowlage(sp?) of DHTML than I did before when I first looked at it.

Go there. Have a field day. Should produce everything you want from flash to dhtml menus etc. Tell me if that was helpful.

Ok thanks. I think I've already been there(guistuff.com) for when I was beginning to build my site because I wanted the drop-down menu in the first place. Anyways- when I get home from school tomorrow I'll take a look around there and see what I can find.
Also- for future posters; I also use (studio MX) Fireworks MX, Dreamweaver MX, and Flash MX; so if you could help me build a drop-down menu in one of those apps that would be great too.
Thanks guys,
*joe*

You might want to take a look at http://www.brothercake.com/dropdown/.
That's by far the best (and understandable) dhtml drop down menu I've seen.

Ok. I finally had some personal time to go through this. I check out the GUI-Tools place and just like before, I don't think they have much to offer me.
I did check out the udm thing though. VERY nice. I'm downloading the script and trying to get it to work as I'm typing this/
Thanks alot guys,

Joe for future source code viewing if your looking for something specific you can load it up in dreamweaver and it would be easy to get rid of elements that you already know so that you can focus on what you dont know
