Color problems - what am I doing wrong?

Hello.

I'm trying to use the COLOR parameter on the "<HR>" tag but it doesn't seem to be working. I set the color to something other than the default, it looks right in my editor (FP98) but when I upload it to my server and view it from a browser the color isn't there (just the default color). Happens in both Netscape 4.5 and IE 5.0

What am I doing wrong? Is there sa setting I need to make in my browers?

Thanks!

Hi Jaiem,

We are going to need to see what code you are using to see what is wrong with it.

I'm just using the tag as:

<HR noshade color="(whatever)">

Do you have an example of a web site that's using the color param in the <HR> tag that works I can take a look at?

Thanks.

Try:

<HR NoShade Color="Whatever">

(That's the same as what you had before, only without the parenthesis.)

Ian - that's what I meant. I'm not using the parens. (i.e. <HR noshade color="FF00FF"> for example).

Hmm, that exact code worked for me...(Win95, IE5). So maybe its something FP is messing up, try just entering it manually into the html file.

It should work in IE, as far as I know NS does not support the color attribute for an HR tag yet.

Here's another option-

Take a 1x1 pixel image (whatever color you want) and set it up as a fake HR... For example:

<BR><BR><IMG SRC="1x1pixelimg.gif" WIDTH=100% HEIGHT=2><BR><BR>

Of course the coding is a little longer and stuff but it'll let you do a colored HR effect that will work in both browsers. In addition, because it's only a 1x1 pixel image, it's very small and will load up quickly.
