Hi, all. Once again, I am back for advice. This time, for my site.

I do several things, primarily digital scrapbooking, but I also want to offer some other options such as a Cafe' Press store, blog customization and banners and some webdesign. I currently use Typepad for my blog, but have my own space on a server for basically anything I want to install. Ideally, I'd use something that is an add-on script for cPanel Pro...just to ease the installation since I have so much going on right now. I have these options:

WordPress
Mambo
MyBloggie
CPG Dragonfly
e107
TikiWiki (I know NOTHING about wikis)
Drupal
pLog
b2
Nucleus
Geeklog
b2evolution
pMachine
Serendipity
bMachine (BoastMachine)

I can do a blog PLUS a website, but I'd love to be able to integrate it all, but keep it all specific to the areas of interest and audience that each particular area is aimed at.

Any suggestions? I don't HAVE to use one of the options above, but I'd just prefer it.

Thanks!

I've had success with Drupal. Plenty of nice modules available for it.

I've used Word Press for photo blogs and regular blogging, nothing like you are looking for though, it's limited. Good luck and post when you find the solution! Smiling

I would go for the simplicity and concentration on content, of Wordpress.

Mambo is the kind of CMS I do not like - too heavy and too beginner-like administration.

I used Drupal to create the Mill Valley Film Festival site. You can see that it can create a pretty decent site.

However, to get it to work, I had to fight it like mad. I installed the PHPTemplates plugin, and a dozen others. I wrote custom PHP code to overload some of the built-in functions. Overall, it was not beginner-friendly. I was lucky to have PHP skills.

While JLHost doesn't like Mambo, I do have to admit that it is the kind of solution that works well out-of-the-box. Having to learn their terminology and interface is a little annoying, but being able to deploy a site without heavy hacking is always nice.

Hello,

If I had a choice I'd go with Wordpress or Mambo.. Also Joolma bought mambo and they're continuing the updates so i suggest that you check into that. Smiling

Hi all

We started a blog with pLog. Lots of features and very user friendly.

But after 4 months, and after promoting it very well, its principal problem appeared:
The system 'eats' resources from the hosting server when receive multiple visits simultaneously, or the visits are around 3,000 or 4,000 a day.

The fact is: My site is down now, I changed hosting twice in 30 days, and my programmer is looking for alternatives.

I really don´t know what to do from now on

Sad

Any advice??

wordpress is really limited I found it hard to change the header to integrate it with the header of your website.

I use greymatter, but that is also limited though the header is integrated well enough.
