capture an email address
I have looked in a lot of places but cannot seem to find the right answer. So I thought you might be able to help.
If someone clicks on an email link - how can I capture their address so I can contact them?

What do you mean by "capture"? Could you further define what you're asking? Thanks.

Sure,
I mean 'get' their email address. So that it appears somewhere in the email. Many of them are forgetting to put any contact information and I would love to be able to grab their email address so that I have it.
I hope that I am not too cryptic - it's kind of confusing!

Why not make a form and ask for their emailadres?
Otherwise I don't think it's possible to get it...

Mailto Link
If people don't have their email client set up with a return email address, I don't know that you can do anything. If it's coming through email, it should be right there. Check the headers of the email.
Use a form
The least technical way would be to make a form field required -- if they don't provide an email address, then they can't submit the form.
I believe you can get it from their browser, but I don't know the details. People would have to have their email address set up in their browser, and it's a bit intrusive.
I'd recommend using a combination of JavaScript and a server side technology to just make the field required and gently remind them to include a way for you to contact them.
