Browser Detection

Right this is what I want to do!

I would like to write a bit of JavaScript that will detect if a user is running IE, Netscape or Opera.

The script will then load diffent templates and css files dependent on browser manufacturer. I'm not concerned about version as the templates and css files would be for v4 and above.

The site will have a relative link to the css file from each page.

In addition is there a way to set a ColdFusion variable using JavaScript?

Any ideas?

his isnt an answer to your question - sorry

just some useless information,
I was playing with Opera the other day in a javascripted redirect site. In Opera, the function to be displayed as another browser type actually works, I tried the same site choosing IE, NS and Opera, and all gave different results, except opera, it just wouldnt load, but the site also had some ver4 netscape problems as well, so making a opera redirection could prove hard, as you wouldnt know what the person has it set on, I keep mine on mozilla 4.76 now
