broken links on macs
Hi - sorry about the lack of detail - got asked this 2nd hand. Webpages published on nt box - links work fine. Mirrored to unix boxes the / becomes \ Now still views fine from windoze boxes but macs see it as broken links - any clues anyone.
TIA as always

Hi
"\" is the correct slash. "/" should only work offline, in DOS, and when the machine is not on the web. Change the references so all directories are of the "../../" type.

but the problem is that they are changing to \ in the content and it only occurs on some of the links. Don't want to have to keep hand editing.

Hi geek,
I must have been sleeping or something when I wrote the previous post.
this:
should read:
That is, the unix boxes are giving you the correct slash -- "http://...."
change your pages so they conform; the nt box will recognize "//" also -- as long as it is not "c:\"

OK thanx for your reply - I'm up on the relative vs absolute ref thing. The prob is that they are starting off as / on the nt box and somehow when they hit the solaris 2.6 box they are magically changing into \ which the windows browsers cope with but the macs don't. Its a weirdly one!!
