Banner Creation
Hello again. I was just wondering how one can go about making (programming) both non-animated and animated banners. What programming (Java, JavaScript, HTML, etc.) is used to do this? Also, how in the world, should one be able to create a banner, does one get text on it? Frames?

Banners are graphics. But you can use iframes, Flash, or html/JavaScript in them as well, depending on the banner service. But banners are basically images.

Does this mean I can't make my own banners? And, if I can, can I do it myself without any banner services?
Also, I do know how to create picture links with HTML, but have yet to know how to put text inside them.

use a graphic program like paint shop pro or photo shop to make them, PSP (paint shop pro) comes with animation shop but there are 100's of graphic programs out there, loads are free.
the banners you see top right of this page (in TWF) are animated banners, which are .gif files. several images jammed together as one image to create an animation. they are the same as non animated but can be saved as .gif, .jpg, .png etc where the animated one has to be .gif

I have WebTV, so I can't download anything to a disc (there is no disc). Can I still use PSP or photo shop without download capability?

You can go to a PC software shop and buy the graphics program on disc to use on your computer.

Well, I can make simple banners with some background (usually not a picture, but a texture or color), and I can put text on it that is colored and sized also. I do this through something like flamingtext.com.
I think I could use some banner rotation code through JavaScript to make an animated banner, but I still don't know how to put text on the banner. Oh well, it's not that important, but if you can think of anything else please let me know. Thanks.

i use photoshop to make the originial banner...save it as a photoshop file, and then i load up Adobe ImageReady (which is a banner creating program)...and make the needed ones from there...uses a storyboard kind of thing, like in video editing. Very easy to use...text, graphics, colors, w/e...all do-able. Good Luck!

Steve, do understand correctly that you don't actually have a PC but do everything online through the webTV?

...get a pc before trying to make a website. webtv just doesnt have the stuff you need.(and trust me without flashy pictures a site wouldnt hold peoples attention for more than 5 seconds.)
why would you need banner rotation?
anyone can do any amount of work provided it isnt the work they are supposed to be doing.
