Backgrounding my site
I noticed on some sites, when you click on an external link, the site is "backgrounded" with links and a logo in a small frame. how would I go about doing such a thing?

You can force a link to open in a new window using "Target" in the link:
(check that _blank - I'm not certain that's exactly right!)
Is that what you mean?

No, sorry I wasnt to descriptive...
I want to have a link that when clicked, the page opens into frames, with the top bar to be my default 'backgrounded' html file, and the bottom frame to open the link i just clicked on...
understand?
its kinda hard to explain. but I know when I have seen it on other sites the link to the backgrounded frames looked something to this effect:
http://www.the-site-your-on.com/apage.htm?BACKGROUND=http://anothersite.com
understand?

I know what you mean - like About.com, where if you click a link the page loads but with the About.com still on the top part of the page? Then you have the option to close it if you want?
They must use frames, but I'm not sure how it works exactly - can anyone satisfy our curiosoty (and thirst for knowledge!) here?

Displaying someone else's site in your frame with your logo etc., in a another frame is bad practice. Not only could people be mislead into thinking it was your content ... but what exactly are you going to do when the external site you link to includes a 'frame buster'??
far, far, better to use the target="_blank" method. That way, closing the new window always brings people back to your site.
