Worlds Most Irritating Thing?
This is seriously bugging me...
I've just installed IE6 and I'm getting a particuarly annoying problem. Images on sites that worked previously using IE5.5 now don't appear, on these same sites javascript doesn't seem to want to enable and even css looks as though it is not supported!!
The only good thing is that my site still looks the same in IE6
Is it me, am I doing something wrong?

I downloaded IE 6 last week. I am still unsure if I like it better or not. One annoying this is when mine shows an image, icons appear in the upper left corner of the image so that you can save it and then the image gets smaller and another icon thingy appears in the lower right corner so that you can make it normal size again. This is useless to me. Is yours doing that? Pages also seem to take longer to load. I may go back to 5.5.

Hey all
I just bought a computer, with windows xp. It also came with ie 6.0. I dont find anything wrong with it. I had ie 5.5 on my other computer, and it works the same.
I agree with you, i hate that. Oh well their is nothing i can do about it.

Seems like they should at least put an ON/OFF option in the settings somewhere. Anyway, that's M$ for you... always in control.

Hey Flipper,
I figured out how to get rid of the image resize icon and the other thing too in IE6.
go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced (tab)
In the Advanced section scroll down to the Multimedia section and UN-check these:
*Enable Automatic Image Resizing
*Enable Image Tool Bar

Here's some more!
I just received an email in HTML format and none of the images are showing...Is it a file associaaion problem perhaps?

Well I've figured out why its happening but I can't work out how to stop it happening!
To sort it I went to view -> Encoding and selected Western European (Windows). If Western European (ISO) is selected the images do not show. I thought if I ticked auto-select it might solve the problem but no....
The thing is whenever I visit a site that I have to change the encoding for the next time I visit that site it kicks it back to the ISO setting and the images crash again. Plus it hasn't sorted out the graphics in emails problem...
Hmmm...methinks I shall write to Bill Gates and call him a plonker....

Oh sod it....
I'm just gonna do a format and reload everything...I think I may have a virus lurking anyways....
Methinks I shall surely use 5.5 as 6 is...well....not evrything I wanted for christmas!

Flipper how are you coming along with IE 6 or did you go back to the old standby???? Mine is doing fine so far. Me thinks ya just got a bad apple.
I thought I would just post this here since it sorta pertains to IE 6 and those annoying little toolbars that IE6 displays when an image loads.
I found a metatag at Dynamic Drive that you can insert in your webpages that will prevent the toolbar from showing up in IE6 when someone views you site. Not sure if it works and may not be of any use to anyone but here it is.
or you can add the following to your images:

Well, I don't think that you got a bad apple. IE 6.0 has a bucket load of problems. Some didn't show up until weeks of use. The most annoying problems seem to be with opening new windows. It has a great tendency to just kind of leave that window hanging and not load at all. I've decided to keep 5.5 for awhile longer until maybe the first service pack.

DM,
I reformatted my entire drive, reloaded the bare minmum and then tried IE6 again, same proble. I think it may be my install disk... I then reformatted again to get rid of all traces of IE6 and put IE 5.5 SP2 back on and thats where I'm sticking...
As far as I could tell there was no major benefits to me upgrading anyway so until the entire world is using IE6, I'm staying as I am!!
