Win XP Help

I have loaded Win XP on my pc about a month ago and the problem I am getting now is that when I close the internet explorer window the whole task bar freezes for about 30 seconds.

I have since then loaded Neoplanet explorer and it works fine.

Also when clicking on the favourites in IE also the start menu on pc it takes time to fade in which is very annoying.

Next question, when shutting the system down it always gives me a message saying "explorer is not responding" and I have to press the button to finish task.

Any idea's???
