Ultra-slow form execution
MSIE6, Win98se, pentium 133, 65mb ram, hd has space on it.
I just confirmed, it is NOT doing this in Opera. It is in IE6.
When I type stuff in a form, first, i cannot tab over. well, if i do, it pops up another program, not tabbing inside the form. But worst problem is just moving around and submitting. If I type into a field and then i click into the next field, it takes seversl seconds for cursor to show up. Worst of all is when I click Submit, it usually takes 1 to 2 MINUTES, yes, that is right, 1 to 2 minutes before it is through executing and returns me to the page.

It is virtually ANY form. The only thing I have noticed different is it seems Yahoo email works normal. Maybe they use diff form code. You can go to WePay.com and that one I just did again and it took over one minute. That form script calls a php script upon clicking SUBMIT. This happens with all forms more or less. In IE6, is what I have using. Opera did NOT do this.

I had no problems with the form at all using IE6. I would suggest that it is something particular to your pc rather than they way the form is done. I can't think what to suggest other than ensuring you have all the relevant updates for IE6 or stop using IE and use Opera instead

It's about time to upgrade that computer, DukeWill. IE 6 has a larger memory requirement than Opera but with your system anything is going to be slow.

Meaning RAM? How much would it take to make a difference? I don't even know how much this can be upgraded. Hopefully, it can. (I bought this used for $150 cuz my two laptops crapped out.) Right now, it will have to do. But if I could buy some cheap RAM somewhere, I could probably do that myself.

By upgrade, I meant get another computer. The RAM probably can't be increased. Even if it could, it would be too expensive to do for that type of RAM. The processor is also very underpowered in today's world. I have picked up computers, mostly off-lease Dell's at Computer-Show.com. You will need at least a P3.

I will buy another computer when possible. I was hoping I could just up the RAM cheaply. If I can't, I guess I will just start using Opera. Or maybe Mozilla has less RAM requirements. The computer works and surfs pretty well except for the FORM bit.

You can't really do the RAM cheaply. If is about $50 for a 32MB SIMM. Your motherboard may or may not support over 64MB. Even if it does, you would be limited by the number of slots. If you have 2 slots, you could only have 64MB. If you have 4, you could maybe upgrade by adding two 32MB sticks provided your 4 slots weren't full of 16MB chips. Even if they weren't full, you would be spending $100 on a system that wasn't worth $20.
