We've been given permission to copy some images from a website for one we are building and are doing the normal right click, save picture as, but on my husbands pc (Windows ME, IE6) some images save fine as jpegs but others are being saved as txt files, although when I save the exact same pictures they save as jpegs.

Anyone have any idea why this might be??

I don't know the answer to your question, but what I always do is I open Adobe Photoshop and place IE and PS next to eachother, then I drag the pictures I want from IE to PS's workarea. It works like charm and I can save them in whatever format I want.

I know how to change the format but want to know why it saves fine on mine but not on his pc, the idea is to save them straight to the new site so that we save time by not having to alter the images at all in a graphics program.

I have a site that I do for a customer. 3 times a year, a new catalog comes up with 200-500 items. Well when I request this manufacturer to send me all of the pictures on a disk, they take about a month to do so. So I quit asking and now just use a website copier to copy the pictures. That way I can set it and go away and there are all of my pictures.

I have actually realised that it is a fault on IE6 as I have just had to upgrade due to a new pc and I can't do it either, when saving as you have to then type .jpg at the end of the name even though the drop down box below for the image type already says jpeg!
