RAMor lack of!
Being the January sales (in December ) I decided to treat myself to an extra 256MB of SDRAM. Banged it in, that's odd, XP tells me there's only 192MB there (I'd kept the 64MB chip in)
So I took the the 64MB out and found hte RAM had dropped to 128MB!
Now before I go and shout at my computer store for flogging me 128MB of RAM for the price of 256MB. Is there anyway I can check if I'm wrong?
I'm pretty sure I'm right but I don't like to kill people unless I'm sure! :csaw:

Are they in sequence?
Gotta have them in sequence from largest to smallest starting at first slot onwards.
SD1 SD2 SD3 ...
256 128 64 (or whatever you have)
more ----> less

Yep, tried that. I tried the 256 MB chip on its own in both slots as well as with the 64MB chip, and got the same result, 192MB with both chips in and 128MB with just the new one....

It probably is 128MB. But you could try the stick in another machine...

What kind of computer (motherboard) do you have? Does it even support 256MB? Seriously though, they've probably given you a 128MB by mistake.
