PC problems
The other day while surfing my PC just decided to reboot itself, (don't think it was a power cut) since them have been getting alsorts of werid errors.
the other day on start up I had an illegal operation - Inetinfo
today viewing a site I always view got an box popping up with:
CMOS 100k-X rev 2.01.0025.0 event and it wantd me to choose scanner, printer or other imageing program of which I never use and arent set as default.
The other day was updating my db (offline) and notice fields were missing (could of happened when it rebooted)
hardware/software failure? or just one of those things?
running alsorts on win98se

It's a Windows problem, especially on 98. I'm running Win98SE too and it's happened to me several times.
What has happened is that because the computer wasn't turned off properly the randomly generated useless files that windows usually makes in the background has corrupted and messed up your files along with it.
And the reason you have to choose printer software and stuff is because part of your registry was also erased
Just be glad it wasn't like what happened to me...I had to reinstall every single program I had and all my files were corrupt

Probably a virus. Other than a whole filesystem scan, I suggest you look at your various startup files and registry keys for references to strange programs or files.

virus scan and system is all up to date and clean, I do full scan every week (takes 2 hours each time).
Haven't done a defrag for a while but should be ok (doesn't show how bad it is, unless it does it), scandisk etc are fine.
use cookiewall (like a cookie firewall) and run adaware all the time (always empty because of cookiewall).
I think the last program I downloaded was Mozilla and that was months ago, so hopefully the PC is just having a few bad hair days, god I hope so lol

If it rebooted all of a sudden like that then it probably is a hardware problem. Maybe either heat or the power supply is on the fritz.

My power supply did that to me a few time before it bit the dust. Some PSU's have thermal protection, so they shut themselves off when they get hot.

If there is no answer on Google, then there is no question.

Hah! Careful, it must the the GCSB or SIS and all that business with the Echelon network.
That reminds me, 8march2003 looms. You haven't noticed any black vans or people looking like they're at a funeral lurking about outside, have you?

Yeah but they are my neighbours friends - the goths. One of the guys tried converting an old station wagon into a hearse but the coffin didnt fit so they had a cardboard one straped to the roof
And I thought I was crazy

If anyone has a similar problem it seems my web cam (usb) was the cause, uninstalled and unplugged it and havent had any other problems.
