I need a sound card for a RedHat Linux workstation, but I can't find any that are compatible

Any suggestions?

Nearly any of the Creative cards will work. Here is the list.

I looked through the list and checked all over the place, and no place sells those cards.
Some of those cards are the old type, and won't work in my PCI slots...
Any suggestions where to buy them?

That looks like an old list. I have used a SB live on earlier versions of Mandrake. It had no problems at all. Oh, that list is for Redhat 6.0. Here is a listing of Creative cards supported.

OK
Here is where I am getting confused:
RedHat says they are supported, but Creative says they are not...
Whom do I trust?

Who knows. All I know is that I have never had a problem with a SB live in Linux.

Alright... I've picked out a SB Live! but then there is that Sound Blaster 16 that Mark picked... I don't need blasting sound or anything, just something to get some sound out of the linux... its so boring to just sit there
Mark: Are you sure that one is compatible??
I'm not ready to pay for something that won't work...

I don't know for sure. I bought a cheapo SB 16 from a mom&pops shop, and it works fine.
