Linking Laptops To Desktops
Is this possible?
I would like to transfer laptop data to desktop computer without using a floppy/cd rom. Is it possible? If so how?

A couple of different ways.
The best would be to use a network (ethernet) connection. This would either require a hub/switch or a crossover cable without a hub/switch.
Another way if the computer didn't have a NIC, would be to use a Null Modem Cable which would be painfully slow.
Would this be a full time connection or a temporary one time connection?

And will you require more than two PCs to be connected at one time?

You can get a laptop bay that can connect with other PC's, as well as share a monitor, etc.

I want to type up things on my laptop then post them on the internet so it would only be to transfer data from the laptop to the p.c.
No major data, just a word document or 2.

If that's all you want then the easiest is a laplink cable ... you can get one at any Radio Shack or Computer supply store. Also ... if your Lap top has Wireless built in you can get a USB Wireless unit (Linksys one works well) for the Desk top Unit and just do a peer to peer ...
here's the link to the linksys unit I referred to:

(The above link is for information only ... I am not affiliated in any way with the Linksys Corporation)

I'd go for a small hub; allows you to plug in and out when you want and it's immediately available for expansion in the future.

all you actually need is a cross over wire (about 2 pounds from a computer fair) and a copy of laplink - free on any cover disk nowadays.
