I am trying to go from 32 bit Vista to 64 bit Windows 7.
I am trying to go from 32 bit Vista to 64 bit Windows 7.
The 32 bit Vista was installed by mistake. My system can handle a 64 bit OS. Now I have finally found the time to upgrade. But the 64 bit intallation DVD can't be read from my OS. Any Advice?
Do I need to boot from that DVD drive? Will that work?

IMO best results will be to back up your data, and do a complete fresh install instead of trying to do an upgrade over the old stuff. For that, yes boot from the install disk, and when asked tell it you want to do a complete new install (again, make sure you have everything backed up)

Yes you have to boot from the DVD drive. You need a fresh installation. If you want to
install it without boot then it will be overlapping and your computer will be slow.
Thanks

It's a best alternate
you make a boot-able USB drive.
