I keep getting this error, everytime i open any program.

"cannot find the file 'then the file path goes here' (or one of its componets). Make sure the path and file name are correct and that all required libraries are available.

it's doing this for every single program, and i know the file name and path are correct.

any ideas?

I have heard of viruses that render your system so not executionable files work anymore...

What operating system?

Have you ran a virus scan with updated definions?

ya, i'm thinking it's a virus.

I haven't ran a virus scanner, because, well, I can't open it.

Here is an online virus scanner. That is assuming that you can run Internet Explorer. If not most Virus scanners, like Norton, come with a bootable CD, that allows you to boot off of it and scan for viruses.

Back up all crucial, non-replaceable data and consider a reinstall. Did you open an attachment and this could have caused it? Folks, never open any executionable attachments!

The online virus scanner should do the trick. Copy all your files to a cd, or a networked computer, or on a networked computer, scan your computer for the virus (if possible).

The reformat. and let your virus scan run all the time that way you want have the problem of running it, you can always try running it from the run command, sounds like it just took all the linking info to the program out of the icon.
