DVDs not working after Codec Upgrade

I upgraded my codec files to view some new movies I had made...
However, as soon as my computer reset, the processor was at 100% use, 99% on Explorer.exe (ctrl+alt+delete on win XP)
I uninstalled the program, and now I can't play any movies... my DVD-ROM spins (an improvement from before) and I can see the names of the files and all, but nothing will play them...
How can I get my codecs back... it, for some reason, took them all away Sad

Help, please

I fixed it by rolling back a week with system restore...
Intervideo winDVD is the only program that plays it without skipping... oh well, it works, it works... thats fine with me
