Coolest Thing Ever!
This is so awesome. I saw it in PC world magazine. you can have 4 desktops on your one. Go to find.pcworld.com/38165 and download the Virtual Desktop Manager. Install it and then click on an empty spot on the start menu bar thing (the blue bar at the bottom of your screen) than right click-toolbars-Desktop manager than type in windows key-V or windows key 1-4 to scroll through the desktops, it only works for windows XP

heh, almost every window manager/desktop environment used on Linux has virtual desktops by default. And they usually have a maximum of about 16 desktops. The default is usually 4.
You can also get virtual desktops with software like nVidia's nView and ATi's Hydravision, depending what video card you have.

Their ok, but not that practical unless you are doing somehting that has a ton of windows open. I do have to admit Hydravision is fun to play around with.

I have ~5 windows open... that's not a lot, especially on 1280x1024 but everything is much simpler having them spread across different virtual desktops. I have all chat/communication windows and terms in one, multimedia windows in another, etc. Organising frequently used software windows into desktops is really what I find most useful, rather than simply having a place to dump windows irregularly.
