I am not real smart when it comes to computer problems but this is what I would recommend if you haven't already done it.

Delete your temporary internet files and history, empty recycle bin, do a disk defragment and a scan disk. This is the cheap way out. Wink

Restarting your computer can also help.

Not sure of your computer knowledge so here are a few related links that might be of some assistance:

What are your current machine specs? processor speed, ammount of RAM, etc.?

What are you doing when you notice the slow speed? For example..
Does it take longer to boot?
Are you buying new games that run slow?

I'm assuming you bought a pre-configured machine as opposed to building it yourself. Is this the case?

Sounds to me like you need more memory (try upgrading to 512mb). All those programs you've mentioned take up a great deal of memory and once your memory is full your computer will start using your harddrive instead and that is when you notice a hude slowdown. I currently have 1,280MB of RAM in my computer and I also run a few IE windows, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc and I usually come up to about 700MB memory usage, but most of the time I'm below 512MB.

So if your computer is fast but gets slow when you run too many programs, that's a sign of low memory.

Yep, but it could also be a software/driver thing.

Although it's most likely low memory as zollet said, I couldn't help but think that maybe your modem might be causing problems, since you mentioned you are online when this happens. Does it ever occur when you are offline?

I had a similar problem on my older machine. I tried adding more RAM but to no avail. Then I noticed that the slowdown only occurred after I'd been online for a while. Updated my modem drivers and the problem vanished... Wink

It have NEVER happened to me while I was offline......
Plus, I use AOL, that may be a problem, just not sure.......
and I Got a question.......

is 21.0 GB of Free Harddrive Space good???????
I am only currently using around 4.21 GB of harddrive Space......

Got a capacity of 25.2
That Good? (don't really know computers well....)
And is 71% of my system resources free good also?

I Took your advice, deleted all temporary internet files, Did a Scan Disk, defragemented drive C
Still Going slow after awhile tho.......
I will try to getc more memory if i can.......

21G free is bigger than my harddrive (I only have 16G)
71% of resources, depends is that on start up, during the day or someother time?

After you start your computer (without doing anything) how many things do you have running? go "ctrl, alt, del" (once) to give you an idea of whats running.
