Antivirus for win 2k
Hi all,
I have recently acquired a laptop (dell cpt) that has windows 2k(2000) on it. It isn't new (650mhz pII, 128mb, 20gb...), but I need an antivirus program that will run on it so when I give it to my friend he can use it on the internet.
A strange thing about it is that it has no ethernet on it which I find really strange... It does have a wireless card that was added later on.
Any suggestions would be welcome but prefferably ones that won't tax the memory or processor too much and are free.
Thanks,

AVG Free Edition supports Win 2k, I believe. I would disable daily scanning when configuring it because it would take to big a toll on the resources.

OK, thanks pr0gr4mm3r I'll try the avg free edition and see how it works. I'm also going to try Avast and see how that works as well. I'll pick after testing both of them.

AVG didn't work too well, I had to get an older version and it ran slowly on this hardware. Avast worked reasonably well considering the age of the computer and uncovered a lot of viruses the previous owner had, around 30! It also doesn't slow the computer down too baddly when running as a protection agent.
Avast's site claims it would work on windows 95!
Thanks anyways pr0gr4mm3r.

Glad you found one that worked. I will have to remember Avast if I need protection on a Win2k computer.

I will suggest you download bit defender antivirus. Bit Defender Antivirus is undoubtedly the best antivirus software. It offers the advance features to security of your computer.
