I have found PriceWatch.com to be very useful when looking for parts ... They are a listing site that monitors pricing for hundreds of suppliers. (not all in the US)

Thanks compwolf I'll check them out
mairving, I think the ticket would be cheaper than the parts (I know what I want ), esp with all this Lord of the Rings (middle earth) tours etc going on

The short warrantys are usually on the Private labels ... If you get the Brand Names then you get the 1-3 years ... I have tried both and found that the Private label is usually pretty good on Western Digital Whit labels ... but the other brands are pretty unstable ...

Have now, thanks
hmm don't like their search results, search for make and model (Gigabyte GA-8IG1000Pro) and it comes up with pins and everything - looks like it just takes the first word, the model gave no results. should keep me busy for a while
