I try not to exceed 4 for each particular word i find that if the search engines dont like it i quickly end up on page 50 of the results.

Tried ranks.nl but got an Error message:
even though it reports the File Size : 31051 bytes
and it costs "US $99 only" for an annual membership
possibly worth it, for frequent use, I bet there are free tools that could be found.
the site has a lot of grammatical and spelling errors, I realize it is a Nederlands site but not promising for accuracy
I was just looking for a up-to-date read on how many times it is ok to repeat a keyword in the meta keywords tag, I'll stick to 4, my original instinct anyway.

decibel.places yes they doo limit it. But they are free. I haven't used them for a long time.... But maybe they have paid subscription as well which won't be so limited by size of page?

The repeating of keywords… We would consider not exactly "around 5 to 6" Because you have recipes website then it is really necessary to make keywords phrase with recipes. Then I think you have to add 5 to 6 keyword phrase in keyword tags.

I think it really depends on how much content you have on the page. If you have 4 or 5 instances but those are the only words on the page then you're going to have problems. It should be relative to the amount of text on the page.

Oh, well, that's totally different! Search engines don't really look at those at all so I think it's best to be conservative - maybe 2 of the same phrase. It's not going to help you rank better so why take the risk?

While the meta tags have been deprecated due to abuse, I don't think we can safely assume they are ignored, either.
I agree a conservative approach is better.
I would not repeat a phrase more than once, but for example this site is about video recipes, so just curious how many times it is safe to repeat the words "video" and "recipe(s)" as part of phrases.

No more than 2% of a web page's words should be the targeted keywords. Any more will be considered spamming.

I was always taught and i also read on an article on SEO somewhere, that you should not only use only 2% of the pages words but also do not repeat words any more than 5 times within the keywords, Ie.
If i had the keywords,
Website hosting,website host,realiable website hosting,host a website, cheap website host
then that is 5 but any more and i may get banned by search engines.
The best way to get and keep a good page rank is to supply good content and to keep it updated...
